Wroclaw, December 15, 2021
Selena named green champion of the Polish economy
Selena Group, global manufacturer and distributor of construction chemicals, becomes one of the leaders in the prestigious National Champions ranking. For the first time in history, the company came out on top in the special category of green champions. The competition jury rewarded Selena for her broad strategy to combat climate change and her commitment to environmental protection.
On December 15, we learned the results of the fourth edition of the prestigious ranking of National Champions of Policy overview – Poland’s leading business analysis service. The ranking covers the largest Polish companies which not only show excellent financial results, but are also leaders in their respective sectors, actively operate in international markets and invest in development and innovation.
Selena Group became the very first winner of the Green Champions ranking, a new special category created this year. Only companies that meet the requirements of green awareness, green management and circular economy could be considered for this award. At the same time, Selena found herself among the top 10 in the ranking, taking 7th place among 45 award-winning Polish companies that deserve the title of National Champions. The company received special recognition for its overseas activities, ranking 3rd in this category.
“We are extremely happy to be among the Top 10 National Champions, and the title of Green Champion is particularly important to us as sustainability issues are high on our long-term strategic agenda. For 30 years now, we have strived to ensure that our business and product solutions leave the smallest environmental footprint, and have promoted green solutions in construction. It is our response to the challenges of the contemporary world “, says Jacek Michalak, CEO of Selena Group.
For years, the Group has systematically marketed products that increase the energy efficiency of buildings and improve user comfort. To meet the most stringent requirements, Selena has developed the COOL-R® waterproofing coating which, through the use of innovative technologies, reduces the amount of energy required for building air conditioning, reducing costs by up to 25%. . This solution is increasingly recognized around the world – it has been used, for example, by Porto Alegre International Airport in Brazil, as well as by Abbott Laboratories and the Vicalvaro shopping center in Madrid. COOL-R® coating is also used successfully in Poland, for example on the roof of the Mazowiecki department of the National Health Fund in Warsaw and on a production plant in Bolesławiec.
“Last year, Selena Group also launched a revolutionary system solution for professionals: Tytan WINS, a standard for window insulation and waterproofing, based on liquid foil.. It was developed by our international R&D team in cooperation with users. This system significantly reduces heat loss in a residential building by 30%, in addition to increasing user comfort, as it prevents fungus and condensation on the joints and guarantees excellent sound insulation.“, adds Jacek Michalak.
Selena Group is also a member of the Polish Green Building Council which brings together industry leaders. Selena is actively involved in the activities of the organization, contributing to the roadmap for the decarbonisation of construction and supporting the #BuildingLife campaign, which will accelerate the achievement of the ambition of the European Green Deal for the construction sector and will provide the region’s first response to the zero carbon vision.
